Born and raised just outside New Haven , Connecticut , Dayna logged time in Rhode Island , Boston , London and New York City before settling into her current home base in Los Angeles . Growing up, Dayna's interest in fashion, art, design and travel consumed her. The women in her family were strong influences: Her mother, Jill, writes poetry; her aunt, Jennifer, taught her to sew; her aunt, Heidi, imparted a love of cooking; and her grandmothers, Clara and Ginna, allowed her free reign of their closets, which overflowed with vintage gems and textiles from their own youth. Dayna graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2003, where she specialized in Fashion and Pattern-making, and minored in Art History. Her studies brought her London for 3 months, where she took classes in trend-forecasting and pattern-making . Upon graduation, she was hired as a Design Specialist for Andrea Aranow Textile Documents in New York City . For two years, Dayna sold vintage textiles to designers in major cities around the United States , as well as London and Paris . In turn, these prints and patterns wound up on everything from bed sheets, rugs and shower curtains to men's trousers, women's handbags and children's clothing. From there, Dayna cultivated a relationship with the vintage dealer "What Comes Around Goes Around" and was hired as their Textile Director. She held the position for more than a year, selling textiles and vintage clothing and expanding her clientele. Even after launching Dayna Holli Textiles, the professional relationship has been so rewarding to both sides that she continues to represent WCAGA as a Freelance Agent. The aim of Dayna Holli Textiles is to inspire designers and artists through Dayna's collection of various cultural art pieces. Her library is swimming in textiles, but not limited exclusively to fabric swatches. Dayna also curates a collection of vintage clothing, jewelry and other handmade and hand-embellished items. Her hobbies of sewing, quilting and painting dovetail with her love of vintage and couture fashion. She finds inspiration in music, nature, food and travel.
